All for Pie and Pie for All

From st apple pie

I found the cutest book in the library and had to plan a project around it.  The story is about a grandma cat that makes an apple pie and serves it to her family; there’s one piece left.  A family of mice find the pie and enjoy it, leaving a few crumbs which a family of ants find.  The illustrations are wonderful and in the end everyone pitches in to help make a pie to share.  This week we read the book and everyone pitched in to help make apple pie!  Yummmy, yumm, yum!!!

That was THE best pie! Please share your recipe and method. Now we have to make some at home. I really like the gallette. Seems so much easier than a regular pie and we don’t need so much fruit. Just right for our little family of 3.

Yes, I agree the pie was delicious! Had to have pie to go with that story. Here’s the deal on the pastry recipe One Cube of BUTTER!! That and cold, cold water. I’ll post the complete recipe soon. I used a food processor but of course you can make delicious, flakey pastry with your two little hands.
